Multivitamins are dietary supplements that help to support your resistance or immune system. They contain the most important vitamins and minerals that your body needs and help to keep you healthy and fit. A multivitamin is a supplement containing all 13 vitamines and a large part of the minerals that we can also find in fruit and vegetables.
Vitamines can be divided into 2 categories: fat-soluble and water-soluble vitamines. Fat-soluble vitamins are vitamins A, D, E and K. Water-soluble vitamins are vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9, B12, C and biotin. Minerals are the building blocks we need for the growth and repair of our skeleton and body tissues. Examples of minerals include calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, sodium and potassium. Calcium and phosphorus are essential for the bones. Some minerals we only need in very small quantities. These are called trace elements, for example iron, zinc, fluorine and iodine.
