Peelings and scrubs for the face
A good scrub or peeling ensures that the skin of your face feels smooth and soft, without being damaged. Exfoliating removes all the dead skin cells, leaving the skin looking healthy and providing a healthy glow. It is important that you use your scrub for the body part and skin type it is intended for. Exfoliating your skin too often can also affect your skin, so this should be avoided.
The skin of our face is much thinner and more sensitive than the skin of our body. The grains used in a facial scrub are therefore finer than those used in a body scrub. As they are thinner, these grains are more gentle on the skin. Do not use a body scrub for your face as this can easily damage your skin. This also works the other way around: avoid using a face scrub for your body. This scrub will be too gentle for your body and will be less effective.
To find out which scrub suits your face best, you need to find out what your skin type is. There are scrubs that are only suitable for a normal or combination skin. If you have a dry or sensitive skin, or suffer from acne, should be more careful when choosing a scrub for your face.
Depending on your skin type, you can determine how often you need to exfoliate your skin. It is best to exfoliate once or twice a week if you have a normal to oily skin. If you have a sensitive or dry skin, it is best to limit exfoliating to once every two weeks. If you have an irritated or burnt skin or if you are experiencing eczema, it is best not to exfoliate your skin.
A scrub or peeling? There is a difference! A scrub is a product containing grains that removes dead skin cells. The grains used in a scrub are often salt or sugar. A peeling does not contain grains. Instead, the dead skin cells are 'loosened' from the skin by fruit enzymes or fruit acids.
