If you have had unprotected sex but you do not want to become pregnant, you can use the morning after pill or emergency contraception. The morning after pill or emergency pill can be taken up to 72 hours afterwards. This emergency pill reduces the risk of getting pregnant. The sooner you take the morning after pill, the more likely you are to be protected against a pregnancy.
Note: you are not protected during sexual contacts that occur after having taken the morning after pill. Use protection until the next menstrual period.
